2020 DINNERS VIRTUAL

GOURMET-CONCERT DINNERS

THE GOURMET-CONCERT EXPERIENCE

This year we are replacing our traditional al fresco dinners with three virtual Gourmet-Concert experiences that will include a concert, dinner and interviews, all from the heart of the Val d’Orcia. Each webcast will last roughly one hour and fifteen minutes and will be transmitted at dinner time in four different time zones: London, Rome, New York, and Los  Angeles. You can read details of the musical content on the programme page. We are honoured to have the collaboration of acclaimed food and wine writer and author Jeff Gordinier, filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and three Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn. Jeff will be interviewing our guests and Dominique has generously gifted us three of her own, masterfully-composed culinary creations inspired by our concert programmes.

KIR TOSCAN
“If you’ve ever had the good fortune to dine at Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, you know that a meal begins with this Michelin-starred restaurant’s twist on a Kir Breton, an apéritif involving crème de cassis (a blackcurrant liqueur) and sparkling cider. Because Dominique Crenn is our guest chef for Incontri in Terra di Siena this year, we’ve decided that it makes delightful sense for everyone in the audience to kick off the experience of each performance with a Kir Toscan — a Tuscan spin on the classic sip. Courtney Olson, the beverage director for all of Dominique Crenn’s restaurants, suggests using Pierre-Marie Chermette’s Domaine du Vissoux crème de cassis, if you can find it, or the delicious Supercassis from Vedrenne. As for what makes it “Toscan,” Olson recommends topping off the splash of cassis liqueur with Colombaio di Santa Chiara Vernaccia di San Gimignano or Montenidoli “Fiore” Vernaccia di San Gimignano. “If we really want to take it next-level,” she says, “you can make a Kir Breton á la Toscan with Italian cider: Angioletti.” Cheers!” — Jeff Gordinier
