2020 PROGRAMME EN

INCONTRI IN TERRA DI SIENA 2020

 A Live and Virtual Festival

21 – 30 July

Determined to turn this year’s considerable challenges into an opportunity for creativity and innovation, we have planned a hybrid ‘live and virtual’ festival. The silver lining may be that we are very likely to reach a much wider audience than originally intended. We plan to host two LIVE concerts, each for 120-140 socially-distanced guests, in the large La Foce courtyard. Details of logistics regarding government regulations on distancing and other safety precautions will be shared with our public on a regular basis. Both of these live concerts will be filmed professionally, not only for those unable to attend but also in order to share them with a new and diverse audience around the world. We will also record other musical content, both prior to and during the concert period, for exclusive release during the festival.

Our Oltre la Musica events – including interviews, a garden tour, a unique online dinner experience – will be incorporated into the concert webcasts. Author Jeff Gordinier will lead discussions with three Michelin-starred chef Dominique Crenn and filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and others.

We are delighted to be welcoming both old and new friends to perform at this year’s Incontri:

Alessio Bax (Artistic Director), Lucille Chung, Nelson Goerner, Kamal Khan piano
Joshua Bell, Julie Eskar, Daishin Kashimoto, Henning Kraggerud violin
Ettore Causa, Lawrence Power viola
Antonio Lysy cello

Sergei Nakariakov trumpet and flügelhorn
